Most rooms have more than one option of how they can be arranged.
Let’s review this one, compliments of House and Home UK. This is a working living room.
Everyone can do their own thing in this space. Altogether and yet individual. The desk, the sofa, the chair by the fireplace. The television, the library, the stack of puzzles, perhaps that’s knitting in one of those baskets, all lend themselves to keeping everyone happy.
This is a formal extrapolation of the same room. (below) Things have changed. Serious components have changed. But altogether doable. For anyone. For everyone. The drapes and the carpet are the big components. The art and television have been revised as well. This room is now ready for a group of your fancy friends. Friends who love nothing but a glass of wine and a good conversation.
There is magic in the number three, so here is the third way to arrange this lovely room
This room is ready for a cocktail party. Small groups of two and three can get acquainted, set down their drinks and snacks. Move on to the next interesting group after a bit. Nothing but the beautiful quilt is taking center stage, so the people can be as outrageous as they like.
I have been caught up in something else, like a fisherman in a school of tuna. My apologies.
Design Your Way 2. Design is an expression of who you are. You don’t have to imitate someone else, unless you love the way they dress and need pointers, or love the way they decorate and need pointers. Do you see the difference? It is something you love always. Always.
Are you a traditionalist and like I said, ‘Go for it like you were the Queen’. Embrace it, love it, can’t get enough of it, love. Of course, if you don’t know what you love, then you have some homework to do. What do you admire, what takes your breath away? What could you surround yourself with 24/7? Take notes and see what the patterns are. There is nothing that surprises you in this bedroom. But the view. And that is exactly how it should be. The room is a reflection of the spectacular view. Therefore complete.
It may be you love everything. Then you would be an Eclectic superstar. Blending all those different elements is tricky but doable. Like chess, or horseshoes. Practice, practice, practice. The great art over the dresser is traditional, the stripe carpet is contemporary, the art over the bed is modern, the Bergere chairs are a blend of classic and modern. What makes this work? The color palette is a common denominator. Straight lines is another. The animal graphic chairs are the pop and they are balanced with the pretty woman who doesn’t miss a smidgeon.
All together now, cold ice and furry polar bears – what a great combination. Again the contrasts are huge and make this room exciting. The glass table against the fuzzy carpet. The straight line of the chairs against the curvy arms of the sofa. Just delightful. The gossamer sheer is so delicate, like thin ice and the seating is so structured like stationary icebergs. Quite miraculous. Congratulations.
A sky filled with cirrus clouds and a touch of blue here and there is what this room is all about. The wide planked walls and ceiling are quite dramatic. The sumptuous bedding contrasts nicely with the plentiful straight lines. The touch of blue is so friendly and comfortable. The lighting is just right, a chandelier, pendants and a table lamp the perfect three light sources for every room. Pendant or sconces.
Isn’t this a knock-out bedroom? Look at the wall color. It’s wallpaper and it’s spectacular. It’s so doable with the huge bed in white, the white chair and ottoman, the white with blue pattered carpet, mirrored furnishings and metal trims.
This bedroom really helps you to understand the value of texture. All white except for the rough texture of the timbered bed and night stand. White floor, walls and bedding. Of course, the bouffant bedding is adding a great deal to the room as is the patina on the floor, the mullioned window panes and the lush greens providing a wonderful envelope for this room.
